Apparently this game wasn't supposed to actually have Alex Kidd in it, but rather a parody version of Shinobi. I never realized how hard Sega had tried to push Alex Kidd as a mascot of sorts.

Just one more Alex Kidd game and then off to a new series!

The poker cards in this game remind me of the poker cards in that old Mickey Mouse cartoon Thru the Mirror. I've always been tickled by the idea that defeating enemies in old games made them simply blink and disappear. What would really happen would be cracking of foreign bones and body fluid spraying everywhere.

I've also decided to remove that silly parchment paper background. So silly!

Check out the awesome art for Spar with the artwork from illustrator Kelly Perry! Woo!

The basic prototype set is off at the printers. I should have a deck to play with in a week. More photos and such to come.

One of those Japan only games, Alex Kidd BMX Trial was one of those games that used a special controller for play. It was a paddle controller, much like the Arkanoid Controller. I don't know if the controller had any more games that used it, but it does certainly seem neat.

Couldn't find this one with an eBay search.
