...oh, and if you listen to my presentation from Casual Connect Hamburg...

...you may hear me say things at the end that sound like I'm bad-mouthing Angry Birds and Cannabalt.  That is anything but the truth.  I think both of those games are fun and I've purchased both.  What I was trying to say is that I'm surprised that for those games specifically have seen such resounding success... like, "tipping point" amounts of success (Angry Birds, specifically).  Another example I failed to list was Mega Jump vs. Doodle Jump.  While the latter came first, I would still argue Mega Jump is a "better" version of the same game mechanic... but not nearly as lucrative.

But hey, in the end, I buy and play them all, so all those developers have my money anyhow.

Another example?  Bejeweled.  The entire franchise.  I paid $19.99 for Bejeweled 3 when it came out and I loved every moment of it.  Why?  I don't know and I still don't know.  Maybe it's a mindshare-brainwash thing.

Don't look too much into it, folks.  Play and make games because they're fun.
