Rumble Tactics - First Playtest

So I got a chance to actually play test the game yesterday at lunch. The game is actually not awful! The rules themselves were actually pretty easy to explain and a match between 30 point armies (about 4 units a side) took only 30 minutes or so!

We used some bottle caps with our first initial and unit ID number to show who was doing what. As you can see, some of those bottle caps were flipped over. That meant that those units had already activated.

I'm pretty stoked about it seeing how it all played very similarly to how I saw it in my head.

There were a few things that came to mind when playing and I've made some adjustments to the rules:
  • Strong Mann is too strong. Either that Defense amount needs to be cut down or his cost needs to be raised.
  • Rolling doubles of 4s, 5s or 6s should always guarantee a wound when attacking.
  • Floating around with the idea of every army requiring a "Leader" character. Defeating that "Leader" is the goal, a la Warmachine. Not sure if that'll work yet since this game doesn't use LOS (line of sight). Hrmm.
Other than that, I'm looking forward to continuing to balance the game and the units.
