A few years ago I became somewhat enthralled with the prospect of owning a scale arcade cabinet for figure/miniature/diorama purposes. There were a handful of plastic model releases (like this Sega Astro City cabinet model) that really caught my interest. I was recently getting into wood crafting so thought I could try making my own out of wood.
This was the first attempt. Turns out hobby wood in bulk isn't quite as uniform as one would like. One 2" square is not the same as another 2" square in the bag. Also, I didn't have sophisticated tools so my miter box skills kind of made the whole thing lopsided.
I also didn't quite make it to scale (1:12 scale in this case). I just used what I had wood for and it just turned out kind of "not so great". It's possible that I did think this was 1:12 scale and just didn't have a good sense of what those measurements should be.
It's good to know that my next attempt was better.
